Almost 20 additional elected public representatives have signed the petition and agreed to sponsor the campaign for the
withdrawal of the US extradition demand for Sean Garland in the past ten days or so.
Campaign chairman the Reverend Chris Hudson MBE has welcomed the surge of political support which comes from right across
the political spectrum from Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Labour Party, Sinn Féin, People Before Profit and Independent councillors.
Among the new signees are Cllr. Paddy Bourke of the Labour Party who was Lord Mayor of Dublin in 2007-2008, and ex Chairman
of South Dublin County Council Cllr. Robert Dowds.
In addition to this the signature campaign on behalf of Sean Garland has been expanded with weekly signature collections
in Dublin city centre and recent action days in Bray and Dundalk. Signature collection is also planned in Cork,
Dublin and several other cities.
"The level of support has been increasing steadily and we are now ratcheting up the campaign to highlight Sean's case
even more. We would welcome further endorsements by public representatives, public figures and ordinary people alike
and are confident that we will receive many more soon", said Chris.
