The Chairman of the Seán Garland support Committee, Revd Chris Hudson MBE, has expressed satisfaction at the growing level of support for the campaign among senior elected representatives, trade unionists, other public figures and the general public.

 

Mr. Hudson said that the campaign now has the support of over 30 senior politicians, including members of the Dáil, Seanad and European Parliament.  In addition to this dozens of trade unionists had pledged their support including the general secretaries of the three largest trade unions in Ireland, north & south.

 

Last week members of the campaign lobbied delegates at the Biennial Conference of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions in Tralee, Co. Kerry and received a very positive response.

 

Chris Hudson said the growing support for Sean Garland's cause was very heartening and he had now doubt that it would continue to grow.   This has been very encouraging for the campaign and to Sean himself and it is testament to the esteem to which Sean is held and the general concern of people at the attempt to have Sean extradited.
